Habitat to Hold Groundbreaking for Next Home
& Announces Joan Miller as Executive Director
Holmes County Habitat for Humanity will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the Affiliate’s next home on Monday, June 15, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend, with the ceremony being held at the home site on Critchfield Street in Millersburg. The home is being built in partnership with Candy Rowland and her two children.
Kristy Bowling, Holmes County Habitat for Humanity President is also announcing the appointment of Joan Miller to serve as the Affiliate’s Executive Director. Miller will guide Habitat through the construction of homes, serve as the volunteer coordinator, foster board and volunteer development, handle oversight of policies and coordinate fundraising efforts. “We feel extremely fortunate to have Joan step into this new role,” stated Bowling. “She brings with her a wealth of knowledge in the non-profit world and is a skilled Executive Director, having previously served in the same capacity for Holmes County Rails to Trails for 11 years.”
Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, Christian housing ministry. Habitat works in partnership with people to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to Habitat’s partner families, at no profit and with no interest charged. Partner families invest hundreds of hours of their own labor – sweat equity – into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.
